Post Secret

Years ago, I ran across an article about a project called Post Secret. It intrigued me. In fact, it spawned MyDungeon Secrets.
From their website:
Post Secret is an ongoing community art project where people mail in their secrets anonymously on one side of a postcard.
Can you imagine??? I read snippets, neatly printed, scrawled, typed, or pasted words cut from magazines on the backs of little postcards. Some took great pains in decorating them, collage-kindergarten style. They were heart breaking, touching, humorous, and some downright scary.
Writing down a secret, something you don’t want to admit, let alone TELL someone, AND sending it to a place where EVERYONE can see it, is a fabulous blessing.
I wondered if the karma behind the postcards was a sort of passing on the pain, freeing oneself, or a ‘pay it forward’ phenomena. It certainly seemed like a cathartic effort for those that mailed their secrets.
Did reading them do something for me? I don’t know, maybe it fed my morbid fascination with people and their secrets, but I did feel sad, horrified, moved, and a little happy for some of them.
Follow @postsecret on twitter. You’ll be glad you did.

About 4 years ago, I got a MOST appropriate coffee cup that expressed my inner dominance. I used it so much the writing wore off, but I found a worthy replacement.

I walked a long trail (for me. My knees need . . . help.) Two miles of hilly terrain that were buffeted by beautiful crimson, gold, and brown falling leaves.

I was planning to clean out the garage, (Note: planning IS just a start,) but as I looked at the box full of old paint cans that I don’t know what to do with, I was about to put off for another year.
Today, I ran across this timely article. Maybe it could help you to “go green” responsibly when cleaning out your garage.

I’m going to bite the bullet and do it.

The recent suicide of Rutgers teen Tyler Clementi drew national attention to the issue. Clementi threw himself off the George Washington Bridge after his college roommate allegedly broadcast online his romantic encounter with a man.
Writer and gay activist Dan Savage spearheaded a project called “It Gets Better.”
It is a video project which features adults and teens telling bullied kids that their lives will improve. Below is Tim Gunn’s clip. He urges teens who need intervention to contact the Trevor Project, a hotline for gay teens contemplating suicide.

The life you save could be your own.

In the memory of my brother who died unexpectedly a few years ago, I wanted to post one of the most important videos I’ve seen regarding what to do when someone has sudden cardiac arrest. It’s only a 6 minute video that can make an impact on your life or your loved ones. You don’t have to be certified to use this technique.
For anyone who engages in BDSM, you are not immune to dealing with someone who has heart disease. Some may not even know they have a cardiac problem. Cardiac arrest can happen at any time.
Here is a brief summary of the points:
- It is relatively easy to perform.
- The success rate rose 10% from the traditional method.
- There is no need for mouth to mouth, pulse checking, or of the clearing the airways.
- This is used ONLY for adults, not children.
You can save a life. You can save your own. Encourage your loved ones and play partners to view this short clip.
